Practice

Our Core Functions

WEIEA is formed and it operates in terms of the Act of Parliament [Labour Act CAP 28:01). The WEIEA is a legitimate employer body which forms an integral part of National Employment Council for Welfare and Educational Institutions [NECWEI]. We serve as the collective voice of employers in the welfare and educational sector, advancing and safeguarding their rights and interests through representation, training, and advocacy.

Employer Representation

We represent employers during conciliation and arbitration at the NEC and Labour Court. We also participate in collective bargaining, wage negotiations, exemptions, retrenchment, and appeals to ensure your voice is heard.

Collective Bargaining

WEIEA helps negotiate and implement the Principal Collective Bargaining Agreement (SI 102 of 2014). We promote fair and sustainable working conditions while balancing employee welfare with institutional needs.

Training & Capacity Building

We provide workshops, seminars, and outreach programs on HR management, labour relations, performance management, and compliance. Our goal is to equip employers with practical knowledge to manage their workforce effectively.

Labour Advisory Services

Our experts guide members on contracts, recruitment, disciplinary procedures, terminations, and changes in labour legislation. Members receive ongoing advice to ensure compliance and reduce legal risks.

Advocacy & Policy Engagement

We engage with government ministries, the NEC, and social partners to advocate for employer-friendly policies. WEIEA strengthens social dialogue and ensures employer concerns are represented at national levels.

Research & Information Sharing

WEIEA conducts surveys, publishes reports, and shares industry updates. Members gain insights into labour trends, wage movements, and sector developments for better decision-making.

Networking & Collaboration

We create opportunities for employers to connect through conferences, workshops, and forums. This helps build professional networks, share experiences, and strengthen collaboration in the sector.

Why It Matters

Through these core functions, WEIEA empowers employers to operate confidently, comply with the law, improve labour relations, and contribute to fair, productive workplaces across Zimbabwe.
