What We Do

Our Services

The Welfare and Educational Institutions Employers Association (WEIEA) proudly represents all employers under the National Employment Council for Welfare and Educational Institutions (NECWEI). We bring together employers from across Zimbabwe’s welfare and education sectors — including independent schools, mission hospitals, tertiary institutions, religious organisations, welfare institutions, NGOs, and school development associations (SDAs/SDCs).

Our role is to advocate, educate, and empower employers by providing training, representation, and expert guidance on all labour and employment matters. We work to build stronger, compliant, and fair workplaces across the country.

Representation at NECWEI

WEIEA serves as the official voice for employers at NECWEI. We take part in wage negotiations, conciliation, arbitration, exemptions, and retrenchment processes. Our representation ensures employers’ interests are protected and that fair, practical agreements are reached within the sector.

Training & Capacity Building

We provide training workshops and awareness programmes to strengthen employers’ understanding of labour laws and HR practices. Our sessions cover HR audits, recruitment, leave management, performance reviews, and team building. This helps minimise disputes and improve compliance.

Labour Law Compliance & Support

WEIEA helps members stay compliant with the Labour Act (Chapter 28:01) and key statutory instruments like SI 15 of 2006 and SI 102 of 2014. We offer continuous updates and support to ensure employers follow correct procedures and avoid unnecessary litigation.

HR Policy & Contract Management

We assist members in developing HR policies and employment contracts that are clear, compliant, and practical. Our guidance covers permanent, fixed-term, probationary, and casual contracts, ensuring smooth employment relationships.

Collective Bargaining & Negotiations

As a key player in collective bargaining, WEIEA represents employers during wage and condition of service discussions. We strive for fair agreements that promote both employee satisfaction and business sustainability.

Advisory & Consultancy Services

Members benefit from professional HR and labour relations advice. We offer consultancy in arbitration, dispute management, retrenchments, and compliance reviews to help employers maintain stability.

Networking & Advocacy

WEIEA promotes collaboration through forums, workshops, and research initiatives. We connect employers to share experiences, learn best practices, and strengthen their collective voice at national level.

Continuous Learning & Updates

We provide regular newsletters, bulletins, and policy updates to keep members informed about changes in labour law and industry standards. This ensures every member stays ahead in a changing legal and economic environment.
